Proof that it takes very little to amuse me!  I found this while looking for preschool age jokes for Sarah.  It cracked me up.

Secrets and Magic Doors

I was exhausted and it was almost bedtime.  Sarah leaned over and whispered I have a secret.  I figured it would be one of her loud jibberish whispers and I wasn't in the mood.  But she insisted and put her face to my ear and whispered I Love You! So sweet.  She then repeated that "secret" to Daddy and added I like to play with you best.  We all had the biggest smiles on our faces.  What a nice way to end the day.

Will is now walking and loving his freedom.  Today while sitting outside Sarah's tumbling class at the community center, he discovered automatic sliding doors.  He was walking toward the entrance to the main building at the center.  He reached several feet in front of the door and it opened.  He froze, not knowing what this was or what to do.  The doors closed and he took one more step.  The doors opened and he froze again.  He glanced back with half a smile a couple times until the doors closed again.  By now, the doors were opening and closing at random based on him shifting his weight a bit.  He waited for the doors to stay open for awhile and then decided to try his luck and headed inside.  I grabbed him just as he got to the doors.  He gave them a slightly nervous look before I took him back to his stroller.  He kept an eye on those doors for the rest of the short time we were there.  I really wish I had a video camera with me.  It was one of the funniest things I've seen in awhile.  

Important Life Lessons

So - Sarah, yesterday morning, was heading to the bathroom and stopped to say to Andy - "I'm really, really mad at you."  We had no clue what she was talking about so Andy said "Why?" Sarah replied, "Because you left the lid [also known as the seat] up!"  I can now die in peace having taught my daughter the most important lesson of all.  I couldn't stop laughing and cheering. 

We also have some wonderful news - SARAH CAN PEDAL!!!!  YAY!  Something just clicked yesterday and she was off.  It is a great feeling to realize the amazing amount of pride you can have over what seems to most a simple accomplishment.  I think I will feel that again as soon as Will decides to drop the crawling all together and just walk full time.  He has this hybrid walk/crawl/walk/crawl thing going for him right now.

I learned something very important about my husband yesterday.  The best thing he ever did was not in fact marrying me or having the kids but rather going to every Burger King in town to make sure he got every single He-Man collectible cup.  This was, of course, quite some time ago.  The laugh I got from that was priceless and it just reminded me again why I love him.

A Daddy Job

I have now realized that I was never meant to teach anything having to do with riding a bike or tricycle for that matter.  Sarah is a bit behind in the pedaling department.  We have worked on it with a tricycle but she is now too big for it so today we bought a small and inexpensive purple bike with training wheels.  I thought maybe a slightly different "vehicle" might help her learn but such was not the case.  She just doesn't grasp the timing of when to push which foot and then gets frustrated and just pushes both feet.   She also has problems with steering and trying to learn to pedal at the same time.  We will just have to separate those lessons out I guess.  The biggest thing I learned this morning from our very brief lesson was that I do not have enough patience for this.  It's going to be a Daddy Job.  My lovely little girl was so nice when Mommy said "I'm sorry honey, I just don't have the patience for this.  It's not your fault.  We'll have Daddy help!" She just said Ok Mommy and let me take a picture of her on the bike and then we headed inside.

On a completely different note, last Wednesday was a special 

Mommy Breakfast at preschool.  We had muffins, fruit, juice, and coffee with our kids and then they sang a lovely song for us.  

It was hilarious to watch them try to remember the words, the hand signs, and pay attention all at the same time.  I must say that I don't think any of them fully succeeded at it which made it all the more wonderful and cute.  Our kids have all grown up so much and are now true, full blown preschoolers.  Following the song, the kids all showed us the beautiful glittery hearts they made.  We tried to get pictures but they pretty much ended up being only of their backs.  This is Sarah, Kiki, and Lizzie too busy getting glitter on their hands to smile for their Mommies.
